20th March 2010
Bookmark and Share

It's been a long time between drinks for Australian volleyball fans but we finally have something to look forward to on home soil after Volleyball Australia announced that Team Canada will tour the country in June and July this year.  While the exact locations are yet to be finalised Volleyball Australia have announced the following dates for the tour:

  • June 24 - Brisbane
  • June 26-27 - Canberra (dates not yet confirmed)
  • Jule 2-3 - Melbourne
It will be the first real international volleyball played in Australia since Argentina toured in 2006, as preparation for the 2007 World Championships.  The Canadian men are currently ranked 20th in the world, while Australia has dropped to 32nd.

Australian  Men’s  Head  Coach  Russ  Borgeaud  said  that  "Playing  Canada,  at  home,  is  a  great opportunity for our young guys to show their supporters what they are capable of.  We have a lot of difficulty attracting teams down to Australia, so the chance to play a team of this calibre, at home, is fantastic and I encourage Volleyball fans not to miss this chance to see some great Volleyball.

There is no doubt that Canada is a very good team and a great way to begin our preparation for this year's World Championships."
